First: Finely chop the almonds; a coffee grinder makes this a snap. The mixture will resemble coarsely ground corn meal. This helps the scrubbing and exfoliating action. Or you can use the almond meal left over from your almond milk, like I do. Pour into a bowl.
Next: Grate the rind of the entire lemon into the almond meal. Firmly squeeze the juice from half of the lemon. Lemon is a powerful alpha hydroxy fruit acid known for its deep cleansing and exfoliating attributes.
Then: Mix in 1 generous tablespoon of organic raw honey. Honey is an antibacterial, and antimicrobial with healing properties. It is an excellent skin softener and moisturizer which also helps to prevent wrinkles and acne outbreaks.
If you like: Finely mince 2 tablespoons of fresh mint. Mint stimulates skin cells, and has both astringent and antiseptic attributes. Stir briskly to incorporate all ingredients.
Optional: Add 1/4 cup of uncooked oatmeal. It is a natural anti-inflammatory and is very moisturizing, perfect for sensitive skin.
The mixture will look like very thick oatmeal and will be easy to scoop-up with your fingers. Use the Honey Almond Exfoliating Scrub once daily, the results are absolutely fabulous!
